Library update causes connection issues
After careful investigation we have mitigated the issue and can report the root cause.
At Tuta Mail we are dedicated to developing the most night clubs and bars email list secure mail system ever. An important part of our mission is to keep our implementations and libraries used up to date. Between the end of March and the beginning of April, we updated the core libraries of our web server. Included in this process was a bug that caused downtime for some users due to their IP addresses being blocked by our system.
We have an extensive set of automated unit and integration tests to ensure that no regressions occur. We also invest a lot of time in manual testing before deploying new software to our production systems. However, in this case these measures were not enough to prevent the problem.

Thus, during the first days of April, a couple hundred users of our Android app and our desktop client were accidentally blocked from accessing Tuta's servers. To the user, this felt as if Tuta Mail was offline for hours. While most affected users were able to access their encrypted mailboxes via a different connection, such as mobile data or a VPN, not all users were aware of this solution.
