The moment had arrived: time to go live!

Post by Bappy7 »

After extensive preparation, The room was packed, the presenters were ready, all we had to do was connect Switcher Studio to LinkedIn Live and start the recording, and… it remained eerily quiet on our screen. About 50 heads were turned our way, and the presenters anxiously awaited the start signal, which thankfully didn't put any more pressure on us (ahem).

We decided they could just get started. Maybe this wasn't our time after all. A few minutes later, we launched the livestream, and with success. Immediately after going live, we had 30 viewers.

During the livestream, we continuously asked our viewers for feedback. That's one of phone number library the advantages: there's real-time interaction, which gives you the opportunity to truly engage with your followers. The interaction takes place via LinkedIn, not through an external tool like Switcher Studio. So make sure you have two people operating the panels with two different phones. This way, one person can manage the actual livestream, while the other responds to viewers.

Also useful to know

when you watch the livestream, comments look like chat messages. In reality, these are just replies to your post, just like you're used to with a regular post. So, if you really engage with that, you'll generate a huge reach in no time.

Sebastiaan and Judith's article recommends a livestream last longer than ten minutes. Ours lasted "a bit" longer (read: an hour), but unfortunately, the connection to the server was lost after 43 minutes. We also received feedback from viewers that the livestream frequently crashed, requiring them to reload. That's certainly not user-friendly. Whether this was due to the fact that it was a Switcher Studio trial, we can't say. Maybe it was that hotspot after all ;).

What were the numbers?

Despite the lack of preparation, the livestream crashing, and the lack of clear explanations above the video, 40 people watched almost the entire stream. At its peak, a whopping 60 people watched. While that might not sound like much, that's still 40 people who dedicated themselves to a 43-minute livestream. Moreover, this number is still rising because the video remains on your timeline (contrary to previous expectations).
