This generation (born between 1981 and 2000) together with Generation Z (born after 2000) will mark a before and after in the world of work, since these digital natives will have the power to influence the decisions and directions taken by companies to sell their products or services to customers.
One of the main characteristics of digital natives is their self-sufficiency and their ability to be self-taught . In this way, they can use technology to be more productive and achieve their goals. However, this implies taking the necessary measures to preserve the confidentiality and security of information. In our case, for example, we take the Unbreakable Oath, which, as its name indicates, will be impossible for the millennial in question to break.
On the other hand, researchers describe this generation as immature and individualistic people with inflated self-esteem and the search for comfort. Although they also highlight the ease with which they adapt to new conditions such as changing habitat or work , learning quickly and solving several problems simultaneously. Nothing to do with the tactic that some politicians insist on using: doing nothing and waiting for things to be resolved.
In 2008, The Guardian reported that millennials “don’t live to work, they work to live.” According to journalist Anushka Asthana, generation Y is less concerned about salaries and more focused on flexible vp quality email lists work where they have time to travel and balance work and life. For this reason, the “so what” generation must learn to be more flexible in this regard and understand that what is good for their employees can be good for the company in terms of productivity and job satisfaction.
Unlike young people of the past, this generation's job preferences are linked to new technologies. A study by the University of Cambridge revealed that among the most sought-after jobs are video game testers, graphic designers, YouTubers and bloggers, although traditional professions such as engineers and doctors are still interesting.
At Ipanema we firmly believe in its potential to bring new ideas and perspectives and that is why we have approached digital transformation with guarantees of success in the change and the changes to come.
From our recently hired millennials we have learned to communicate more efficiently, using Hangouts or Skype, without the need to travel abroad to meet in person with one of our partners or clients. We have learned that office hours do not matter, that what really matters is the result. They have introduced us to their moments of leisure, now we understand that it is necessary to relax, we can concentrate for 2 hours with headphones on listening to music but we also know that watching a video game or a web series between blocks of work or being in contact with friends relaxes the mind and improves productivity.
We encourage all companies, whether B2B or B2C, to do the same, to trust their newcomers, to update themselves and learn to use new technologies the way we do. Don't forget that you can contact us and ask us anything, urgently, directly through our fax or by certified mail to the address you will find in our Contact section. Update: You can now contact us through our office phone or via email.
