Sandra Melero, IM student and International Marketing Assistant at DABA SAU (Exclusive Distributor of Nespresso)

Post by rabia198 »

With a degree in Business Administration and a Master's degree in Financial Management, Accounting Management, and a specialization in Auditing, Sandra Melero has been working for DABA, the official distributor of Nespresso capsule coffees , for 12 years . But sometimes careers can take an unexpected turn, even within the same company. She went from being responsible for internal audits to becoming an International Marketing Assistant , handling a myriad of different tasks. She explains her interesting career in the following interview.

We assume that when you graduated in Business Administration and specialized in Financial Management, Accounting Management, and Auditing, you knew exactly where your professional future lay...
I've always been very argentina mobile database good at math, numbers in general... when you're 18 and you have to choose what you want to be when you grow up, it's a whole new world... since we have very little experience and knowledge of the working world at that age. At that moment, I knew I wanted to study Business Administration ; I liked the content of the degree courses and wanted to work in an office.
A year after finishing my degree, I was fully motivated to study a Master's degree and specialize in the sector I was working in (internal auditing).

Before finishing your studies, you landed a job as an Internal Auditor at a multinational company with a team of over 1,000 people managing more than 70 boutiques. How did this opportunity come about? Didn't you feel overwhelmed? What were your responsibilities?
A vacancy arose in the Internal Audit department. I was working in Accounting at the time, and I was eager to make this change and learn new things . I've always been somewhat restless! At IA, we were in charge of drafting the company's processes, physical inventories, monthly control of stock adjustments/movements using internal software (GRC), and providing support to the Finance Department if necessary.
The truth is that I grew professionally and personally in the Internal Audit department. Traveling to all the boutiques, warehouses, and logistics centers in Spain made me an independent, self-confident, organized, and competitive person . Later, Algeria and Morocco became part of my responsibilities... as you can imagine, quite an adventure!

After more than four years in this position, you suddenly became Brand Marketing Assistant & Key Trainer for Retail International, something that has little to do with auditing. What prompted this change?
In recent months, my duties in Internal Audit were more focused on Algeria and Morocco. A new international project was taking shape within the company, which I was dying to be a part of ... and I was given the opportunity to join this exciting project. Since I was fully familiar with all the boutique processes, I started the project as a Retail Key Trainer, training new Coffee Specialists for each boutique opening and/or country , both in terms of processes and the tool we implemented, Microsoft Dynamics (AX, CRM, and POS). During my first opening, I spent a month living in Ghana , our third country in Africa. From this experience, I can only remember how enriching it was for me as a person. Getting to know a culture totally different from our own, its lifestyle, its customs, its people... INCREDIBLE.
