In an effort to build more intimate relationships with their customers, brands are taking conversations to the next level via direct messaging. Direct messaging is emerging as one of the hottest digital marketing trends of 2020 as a means of streamlining customer service and assisting with sales.

Brands are building stronger connections with their customers through messaging apps like WhatsApp, Viber and Facebook Messenger, or through private messages on social media like Twitter or Instagram. These forums offer the convenience of a text and the immediacy of a phone conversation, all in an environment that users are familiar with from talking to their friends.

Brands have found that private messaging with customers is effective for building relationships, whether it’s resolving a complaint, taking a sales order, or just hanging out. The biggest stipulation here is customer consent—there’s a world of difference between a customer private messaging you first and you private messaging them first.

This technique works best when you encourage users to message you by providing your username or user name, and perhaps incentivize them with an exclusive offer or coupon code.

3. Micro - Influencers-
Influencer marketing has been a digital marketing trend for years. It’s been so successful, though, that big influencers are now calling the shots. It’s not enough to just send them a free sample and hope they’ll review it — there are payment forms and pricing tables. Social media “influence” is now a commodity, and it’s expensive.

Instead of competing with global corporations for top influencers, SMEs are choosing to work with small and medium-sized influencers.

Micro-influencer is a term we are seeing more and more recently. It refers to mid-sized influencers with a smaller niche – popular enough to be influential, still connected with their followers, and without excessive sponsorship offers.

In addition to being more affordable, micro-influencers also typically have higher engagement rates than more popular influencers. Think about it; because they have fewer followers, they can devote more of their personal time to each one. Additionally, it’s easier to focus on a niche with micro-influencers because they usually represent the niche themselves.

A study by Adweek revealed the effectiveness of micro-influencers. Categorized as accounts with loan database around 30,000 followers , micro-influencers received 60% higher engagement than influencers with more followers while being 6.7 times more cost-effective.

Email remains as viable as ever—as of March 2019, email marketing had a 3,200% ROI, however, other experts note that this number is slowing or stagnating. Rather than abandoning this fruitful channel, digital marketers are giving it a fresh coat of paint.

Lately, we’ve seen a rapid decline in plain text emails and newsletters. In their place are gorgeous, pixel-perfect emails that look like they were cribbed from a web designer’s portfolio. Between now and 2020, email marketing will use emails that look and function like web pages, including clickable buttons and other interactions.

These highly polished designs not only make a lasting impression, but also increase conversion rates. Readers are more likely to click on a stylized button with an image than a plain text link.

But these days, even using web-based email templates isn’t enough. You have to double down on stunning visuals and UX-focused design. Considering the ROI mentioned above, it’s worth making sure your emails are as engaging and beautiful as possible.
