We thought that the year of the pandemic, the proliferation of projects and the introduction of new ways of working would be the peak of the post-pandemic story for the IT industry . After a successful 2019, these changes further ignited the dynamics of work and employment in the IT sector: people were hired with fists and hats, believing that a completely digital, online age is ahead of us - the builders of which will be precisely software engineers.
The continued high demand for these professionals, and the shortage of it, prompted us in 2021 to reexamine what software engineers really want from future employers – what is actually most important to them ?
Unfortunately, in the previous two years, with the inevitable arrival car owner database of inflation, the story branched out in a number of directions... From the investment crisis and budget cuts to sitting on the "benches", and then mass layoffs . The IT industry and software engineers have faced bad times.
Many have changed jobs by force of circumstances, some have not yet found one, others have watched their colleagues leave without explanation, and still others have left of their own accord. This is a sensitive period, in which it is perhaps even more important to think about what software engineers want – not so much from an attraction perspective as from a retention perspective .
Participate in the research and inform employers about what (doesn't) suit you!
