Having creative employees can help companies come up with new ideas and innovative solutions, which in turn can boost profits. But if employees are constantly engaged in creative work, it can actually lead to a deterioration in their lifestyle, according to a new study from the University of Illinois.
Scientists conducted several experiments with almost three and a half thousand participants and found that strong involvement in creating creative tasks subsequently leads to more uncontrollable behavior. For example, overeating, alcohol abuse, or refusal to exercise.

The study's authors believe that managers and business owners should take the study's findings into account in their company's operations.It is worth paying attention to health problems in people who regularly engage in creative work, because such work has a psychological impact on them."We don't yet fully know what the impact is because we're just starting to do research in this area, but the data we've collected suggests that it could be negative," says Jack Gonzalo.
