Mansfield believes that scientists, designers, and everyone involved need to mobilize to develop solutions that will help make the planet safer and healthier.
During the malaria epidemic in the United States in the late 1800s, Dr. Albert Freeman Africanus King proposed erecting a giant mosquito net as tall as the Washington Monument.
According to Ellen Lupton, senior curator of contemporary phone number list design at the Smithsonian's Cooper Hewitt Design Museum, the organizers "wanted to showcase products that have a brilliant idea behind them, even if they're not yet in widespread use."
The exhibition also demonstrates the idea that in times of crisis, many designers are abandoning their intellectual property rights. “Designers are using GitHub and other platforms to share plans and present the product to the public,” explains Lupton.
