Meta continues to invest heavily in AI by developing chatbots capable of conversing with users on its messaging apps.
Chatbots coming soon to Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp
At Meta Connect, its "virtual event focused on AI and virtual, mixed, and augmented realities ," Meta Group unveiled a series of AI-powered chatbots that will allow users to converse on its social platforms, henan mobile number database Instagram, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp. As revealed by the Financial Times in August, the goal is to offer a new recommendation tool, but also to improve retention rates on the group's platforms. This new feature is currently being tested in the United States, and no rollout date for Europe has been announced.
Specifically, the 28 chatbots "with which you can interact and explore your interests" have "unique interests and personalities," Meta said in a blog post . To create and write the "unique stories" for its chatbots, which already have their own accounts on Facebook and Instagram, the group has partnered with several celebrities such as rapper Snoop Dogg, influencer and model Kendall Jenner, and tennis player Naomi Osaka. Meta, however, notes that the knowledge base of most of its chatbots will end in early 2023, and that their responses may initially seem dated.
A new virtual assistant and editing tools
At the same time, the group founded by Mark Zuckerberg also unveiled Meta AI: a new AI assistant with which you can interact on WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram. The conversational agent, which is "powered by a custom model that leverages Llama 2 technology and our latest research on large language models (LLMs)," Meta specifies, will be able to navigate the web to provide up-to-date information, thanks to a partnership established with the search engine Bing.

So, like ChatGPT or Google Bard , Meta AI will be able to answer questions or make recommendations. Better still, it will be able to "generate photorealistic images from a text query" in your conversations, in the same way as an AI image generator like DALL-E or Midjourney . All you have to do is associate the command "@MetaAI /imagine" with a query in one of the messaging apps. The virtual assistant is currently in beta in the United States and at this stage, no deployment date has been communicated.
