With the list we created above, let’s first look at the search volume for these products to see which categories are doing better. Search volume is an expression of consumer interest and the consumer’s willingness to buy online.
It’s easiest to target your market by leveraging existing consumer interests. When you build it, you’re more likely to attract consumers (courtesy of Field of Dreams).
That’s not to say that lower volume verticals should be skype database ignored. Many companies have demonstrated the ability to “e-evangelize” and change behavior and create new online markets in traditional spaces (e.g., mattress marketing a few years ago).
It’s worth noting that the search terms chosen are far from perfect. for a portion of traffic, or have different characteristics for click-through ads. I tried to take the most general form of each term, but could mine that information with more data in the future.
1. The most searched categories include clothing, accessories, and home decor. Health and wellness items have lower search volumes. My thinking is that spiritual items like clothing and furniture require a lot of browsing (and therefore have a larger search volume), while practical products like medicine and shampoo are more targeted searches.
