Deloitte research: millennials on an innovative organization
How do millennials (born between 1980 and 2000) actually view innovation? Deloitte asked 5,000 millennials from 18 countries about their opinions and expectations regarding innovation and the associated organizational culture. The first thing that stands out (but does not surprise me) is that only 26% of respondents think that their MT stimulates and/or supports innovation. From my own experience, I know that this has never been different. In general, managers do not like innovation , even though they do like to talk about it.

More remarkable is the role that millennials attribute to innovation: this, like all business activities, should contribute to solving real social problems. While current board members and MTs still focus mainly on growth in the traditional sense, millennials advocate social business. At the same time, 65% think that the organization where they currently work already does this to some extent.

When asked about the recommendations that millennials have for the (senior) management of their organizations, these important tips emerged:

Provide a clear, sustainable vision for the future: communicate it and 'walk the talk'.
Demonstrate inspiring leadership that drives innovation.
Encourage and reward employee creativity italy phone data and idea generation.
Make way for questioning and challenging the status quo and current working methods.
Provide employees with structural 'free time' to learn, play and innovate.
Make room for social innovation and co-creation.
Management and directors should not care who comes up with a good idea: seniority and hierarchy are explicitly not important.
Show commitment to promote the further development of innovative ideas.
We make an effort to understand you, so please make an effort to understand us.
Demonstrate that you are committed to continuously improving your products and services.
Millennial or not, these innovation tips always come in handy
If you are not a millennial yourself but are an innovator, you will undoubtedly agree with me: these tips are neither alpha nor beta and – with the exception of one tip – not generation-specific. And that is not a bad thing at all, on the contrary: innovation, especially in large organizations, is so difficult that these tips always come in handy. Although I secretly hope that they will one day really become outdated. But before that happens, we will probably have moved on another generation.orting for Google Images has improved a lot recently. This will undoubtedly continue to develop in the near future. So keep a close eye on it!
