According to data from Total Retail 2017, the number of Spanish consumers who shop online more than once a week has increased from 19% to 27% . The number of customers who usually shop online at least once a month has also increased from 48% to 58%.

Although these figures already show a clear evolution in the data, and Spain is in position number 8 in the Ranking of countries with the most online consumers, these are still far from the results in nearby countries where online purchases more than once a week account for 45% in the case of British consumers.

WHEN IS OUR AUDIENCE MOST RECEPTIVE TO MAKING ONLINE PURCHASES?

As far as days of the week are concerned, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the most popular days. A recent study by RTB House (Real Time Bidding) has shown that users' purchasing habits are changing and the current trend shows that users make more visits to E-Commerce during weekdays than during the weekend.

The results obtained from the analysis on the 5 continents show that on Tuesdays and Wednesdays users are around 40% more receptive to clicking on ads (which means a greater number of clicks on specific ads for brands) and on the other hand to converting users into customers (thus assuming a greater number of conversions for brands).

According to the European market, users do not make online purchases at all hours of the day, but the study shows two distinct peaks of purchase. The first lasts approximately two hours between 2 and 4 pm , and the second from 8 to 11 pm , coinciding with lunchtime in the first range and with rest hours in the second range. In the case of Spanish users, these user ranges remain the same, but the maximum peaks of online purchases are between 9 and 11 pm.

AND WHEN IS IT LEAST SO?

Spaniards usually work on weekdays, giving them two days at the weekend to do their personal tasks and rest. Given that Saturday is the day of the week when most purchases are made in physical stores in Spain , it is curious that the opposite is true for online purchases, where these tend to be 10% lower than on other days.

HOW DO CONSUMERS BUY ONLINE?

According to a study by Total Retail 2017, 51% of Spanish consumers make their purchases through their PC . This is much lower than online purchases via mobile, which currently stand at 30% for those who buy more than once a month, compared to 18% last year.
