Having gained access to your mail, criminals will try to change your passwords for other services and make some money. Send messages to friends on your behalf asking to borrow money or help with the treatment of an allegedly sick relative. Take over your account and extort money for its restoration. Get access to important documents, personal videos or whatever secret you keep, and use the catch for blackmail.
This is where superhero two-factor authentication comes in. It makes it much harder to get into your account: you need to go through two levels before you can get to the coveted data.
Directly login and password
Your personal device, which confirms that the account owner wants to use the service
Banks were the pioneers of SMS authorization. It was too easy for a uganda consumer email list client to lose a card and for a criminal to use it. Other services followed suit. Today, the technology is used by a wide variety of companies around the world:
Banks.
Online stores (Avito, Wildberries, Ozon).
Social networks (VK, Twitter, Odnoklassniki).
Cloud services (iCloud, Dropbox).
Mail services (Gmail, Yandex.Mail).
Messengers (Telegram, WhatsApp).
Corporate communication applications and task managers (Trello, Evernote).
Example #1
To log into the VK social network application, you must first enter your login and password correctly, then receive a special digital code in an SMS or code-generating application. You can log into your account only if the code was entered correctly.
