Grab a piece of the pie
There has not been as much talk about more women in boardrooms and in “masculine” work fields, if you want to call it that for convenience, as in recent years. From a communications perspective, everyone wants to get a piece of the pie and hijack the subject to present themselves positively. In journalism, too, you often encounter the phenomenon of news hijacking in this context . Are you Belgian? Then you are suddenly an expert on Belgians in business. Are you Canadian? Then you just publish a book about Canadians at the top? Are you Chinese? Let everyone hear about the differences between the Netherlands and China.
Girlsday 2013
Getting more girls excited about IT, tech and science in the hope that they will one day lead companies is quite Dutch. In the US, for example, these types of fields are given a more prominent place in education. In Russia, women have been used to dealing with technology for years. We are not yet familiar with this across the board. All the noise around this theme remains excellent. At the same time, the number of individuals and therefore also companies that act on it is still too small. Then it is not even just about women, but about diversity in general. There is a discrepancy between the amount of attention that diversity receives and the actual results.
For years, diversity has been the focus of attention taiwan phone data worldwide. In fact, one of the international pillars for the coming years remains diversity. This includes gender, but also nationality, age, colour, religion, mentality, culture, education and so on. Diversity is generally easier in an international company than in a local company. International companies tend to employ a very diverse group of people anyway. A local company, on the other hand, sometimes fails to reflect society. Sometimes companies try to maintain a real proportionality and sometimes they certainly do not. Proportionality is one of the most valuable pillars of a company because no factor stimulates innovation, both at micro and macro level, as much as diversity. Think about this more often, cherish the differences between people and guard them as much as possible.
Women in IT. Now you…
We are far from finished talking. Maybe you disagree, or maybe you do. Maybe you want to say something about this, or maybe you would rather not. Maybe you want to discuss it with others, or maybe you read along as anonymously as possible from a distance. In any case, you can respond. The floor is yours.
