Even though the technology exists to make secure digital payments, in Mexico cash remains the main form of payment when making purchases and contracting services, according to the National Survey on Financial Inclusion by INEGI.
In a country like Mexico, where micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) generate 72% of employment and 52% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) , it was of the utmost importance for the Bank of Mexico (Banxico) to implement a platform like Cobro Digital (Codi), in an effort to promote the technological transition in financial matters and help a segment of the population that does not have a bank account and, therefore, cannot make payments through the SPEI (Interbank list of chile whatsapp phone numbers Electronic Payment System), but that has a mobile phone, to be able to make electronic payments and have access to the country's financial system.
In this context, almost two months after the launch of Codi, and within the framework of Buen Fin, which had the participation of 185 thousand establishments according to Concanaco, at UENI we conducted a survey of more than a thousand Mexican microentrepreneurs and small businesses from different parts of the Republic, to find out if they were familiar with the Digital Collection system (CoDi), launched by Banxico. The result: 76.6% of the participants answered that they did not know what Codi was.

And even though since October banks and other financial entities that already have the SPEI service, in addition to non-financial companies such as commercial chains, medium and large businesses, and the general public, must offer the option of a digital collection platform (CoDi), by instruction of the Bank of Mexico, it is striking that, although 23.3% said they knew about Codi, a substantial 40.6% said they would not use it, compared to 59.39% who said they would.
