make is immediately clear: everyone copies

So ask yourself what makes you happy and get to work on it. Not a revolutionary story in itself, but the imaginative way of telling ensures that everyone in the room wonders whether what he/she does gives satisfaction. Loud applause follows.

Goooo copycat!
Finally, a convincing final hit from Mark Earls. After two days of TNW Conference, the energy in the room has somewhat ebbed away, but that is no problem for Mark. He lets the room do a wave and then asks everyone to grab the hands of the person next to them and try to push the other person over. In addition to an energy booster and a psychologically interesting experiment - step outside your comfort zone -, the point that Mark wants to

Mark Earls

As soon as someone in the room turns a quarter turn, crosses their hands or starts jumping up and down, a wave of copycat behavior occurs and the entire room does exactly the same within seconds. Until the next 'innovator' comes up with a new idea.

Was Apple revolutionary with the iPhone? Was sri lanka phone data Facebook based on a new idea? No. But they were incredibly good at copying and developing an existing idea. Don't be afraid to copy. In fact, look around you and copy as many good ideas as possible. Don't try to be original, but try to put someone else's idea into practice as best as possible. Also assume that the rest of the world is ready to copy your idea. Prepare for that by staying in motion. Keep developing and then also integrate ideas from people around you to further improve your 'own' idea. In my eyes a fresh and welcome story in a time where you come across the word 'innovation' every three seconds.

Next year again?
I can be brief about that: yes! All in all a very inspiring event with energetic, convincing speakers, plenty of opportunities to network and a strong focus on the future. The international atmosphere and the presentations of interesting startups also appealed to me.

Only point for improvement: more content, less form. Many lectures were convincing and contained a valuable message, but were not necessarily innovative. Perhaps TNW 2014 will dot the i's and cross the t's.
